Uloma - Good Home

Uloma (meaning "good home" or "beautiful home" in Igbo) features photos taken by Odochi Akwani during her time in Nigeria in November–December 2024. During this trip, Odochi visited her paternal grandmother, Uloma, with whom Odochi and her three siblings spent their childhood in an intergenerational home in Nebraska. This visit marked her first return to her ancestral home in adulthood. This show offers a glimpse into the beginnings of an ongoing project centered on time spent in the Motherland. It’s a promise to return to the continent. This array of images captures the familiarity, beauty, and warmth of West African culture.
